Community Boatshed

Since we started our club, we have known we would need somewhere to store, and build boats. Our temporary accommodation at the rear of Harbourmasters, Harbour Row, DG8 8LL, was only ever designed to be that, and we are incredibly grateful to Shaun and John who allow us to stay. In June 2020 we got together with Newton Stewart Sub Aqua Club, and with Alastair’s support looked at the possibility of creating a community boatshed near the Harbour. Fast forward to April 2023 and we sought planning permission solely for the community boatshed, having had an earlier combined planning application refused. On 13th October 2023 we were awarded planning permission.

A Community Asset – Open to Everyone!

Ever hopeful that we can raise sufficient funds to build our community shed, we are planning towards how our building will operate. From completing an initial fire risk assessment, to planning how we can publicise our community building to engage everyone, and give everyone the opportunity to use the space for activities of their choice. Our first draft of our General Rules are attached here. Contact us via wigtownbaycoastalrowing@gmail.com if you would like more information on how to hire the space when built.
